Lasers have been used for many years for a variety of medical cosmetic procedures.  The GentleLASE Laser System is a revolutionary long-pulse high energy laser that emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle, where it is absorbed.  The laser energy is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle and leaves the surrounding skin unaffected.

Now men and women are making unwanted facial and body hair a thing of the past. No more painful waxing, electrolysis or razors! Our GentleLASE laser system delivers 21st century technology for treatment of this distressing problem.

What areas can be treated?

Our Laser System can remove hair from all parts of the body, for both men and woman, including the face, legs, arms, underarms, and back. It can also treat sensitive areas like the chest, nipples, and bikini line.

What do the treatments feel like?

When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. The GentleLASE System has a dynamic cooling device that sprays cryogen onto the skin, cooling the upper layers and providing patients with increased comfort. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, however some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.

How many treatments will I need?

Most areas require 4-6 treatments, but the number of treatments you may require for optimal long-term benefits depends on various factors such as your skin color, your hair's thickness, your hair's growth cycle and the area treated. Not all hairs are actively growing at the same time, but actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. Our laser systems work by disabling the hair that is principally in the early growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this early growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.

What happens after the treatment?

Immediately following your treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen. Three to seven days after treatment you may experience what seems to be re growth of hair. Actually, most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment, and are not regrowing.

What precautions should be taken before and after treatment?

Before and between treatments, you should not wax or pluck your hair and you must avoid electrolysis for 6 weeks prior, but it is permissible to shave. Following the treatment, you can return to your normal activities right away. However, since some redness may occur, you may want to plan your work or social engagements accordingly. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure for 4-6 weeks before and after treatment. In addition, your physician may recommend that you use a specially formulated skin care product line or prescribe a skin care regimen especially formulated for your skin type.

How does laser hair removal compare with other hair removal methods?

Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated on a frequent basis. Lasers offer permanent hair reduction with lasting results.
